A city magician is preparing for an important performance with a special preview at a Norwich theatre.

Sean Alexander, who lives in Drayton and is known by his fans as The Confusionist, is performing his One Moment in Time show at Stage Two at Norwich Theatre Royal on Sunday.

He promises “thought provoking storytelling and jaw dropping magic” to show how personal moments are just as important as iconic moments shared by everyone.

Sean aspired to be a magician from the age of eight when he was given his very first magic set, taking inspiration from the likes of David Copperfield, Paul Daniels and Wayne Dobson.

However, "the dots weren't connected" until he turned 18 and the story of how he became a professional magician will be revealed in his show.

He is known for a range of acts including disappearance, levitation, water tank escapism, mind reading and psychological illusion – and has appeared on the Britain’s Got Talent and America’s Got Talent TV shows.

Sean, who worked as the magic and illusion consultant for Norwich Theatre’s 2023-24 panto Sleeping Beauty, is preparing for his first Edinburgh Fringe show in August.

"Magic is the vehicle to deliver those strong thought provoking metaphors,” said Sean.

"Expect an incredible show that is heartwarming and inspiring.”

His trade has taken him around the world and to high-profile stages including the London Palladium.

He continued: “Human connection is a strong theme in the show. Fate and coincidences happen all around us but people are blinded by phones or the everyday troubles we experience at any given time.

“That's why this show is different from what everyone else is doing. It’s not just a magic show with a bunch of tricks."

Sunday’s 60-minute show starts at 7pm with tickets, priced at £10, already close to selling out.
