Mercedes smashed while driving in Dereham Road, Norwich

Billie Rush, a 26-year-old carer, was driving her Mercedes at about 1am on Saturday  July 13 in Dereham Road, Costessey, when her windscreen was smashed.

The targeted attack - thought to be one of several in the area recently - happened on the Longwater roundabout as she travelled with a friend towards the city at about 30mph.

Miss Rush passed a set of traffic lights before her windscreen was struck and she was left shaking behind the wheel.

She said: "I was in shock, the sound when it hit was horrible."

"It was so close to coming through the windscreen, if I was going any faster it could have killed someone."

"Thankfully, I didn't have my children with me, that's the scariest part -  it could have hit my children, it could have been fatal."

Miss Rush reported the incident to police who said they would "patrol the area".

However, when she shared the incident on social media, she was flooded with stories from other drivers who had experienced the same thing.

Three other vehicles had been targeted by rocks overnight, while another person was struck in the same spot in the early hours of last Saturday morning, on July 6.

Miss Rush said "the police haven't been useful" after she contacted them again once she heard about the other incidents.

She was told to go door knocking for CCTV and doorbell footage, but due to the location of the incident, there was nowhere in the area that could have captured it on video.

When she checked her dash cam, she struggled to spot anyone and believes someone may have been out of the picture or hiding in the bushes.

"I can't go to work on Monday because if I drive the car it could shatter the whole windscreen", Miss Rush told us, "I drive that way quite regularly, but I'm not going to go down that road again."

Norfolk Police have been contacted for comment.
