Two city takeaways in Norwich's Prince of Wales Road have been handed new hygiene ratings after they were slammed with one-star rankings earlier this year.

Pizza takeaway Siciliano and fast-food outlet Piccolos have both been awarded four-star hygiene ratings after a re-inspection by food inspectors for Norwich City Council.

Siciliano suffered during its last inspection in March after it was discovered that the staff were not properly warning customers of allergens in their food, and were subsequently threatened with legal action.

The same is true of Piccolos, with their last inspection in April.

Rat droppings were also found on the premises of the fast-food joint, and the manager was told to employ a pest controller immediately.

Now, following a re-rating in June, the inspectors commented that they were "pleased to see" that most of the hygiene issues had been addressed at both businesses.

Takeaways along Prince of Wales Road are popular with those enjoying a night out in Norwich, and both shops are open to customers until the early hours of the morning.
