A small stone fox hidden within Norwich Cathedral's architecture is set to engage families with the Cathedral's story this summer.
Known as Flint the Fox, this charming character inspired by a stone carving found in one of the Cathedral’s archways will encourage children to discover the historic building's 900-year-old past.
This summer, the Cathedral will host two children's activity days centred around Flint.
The first, called 'Follow the Fox', will take place on July 25 while the second, 'Cathedral Alphabet day' where 'F' will be for fox, is scheduled for August 15.
In addition to this, the Cathedral will offer a free 'Cloister Club' for primary school-aged children every Tuesday, featuring a variety of weekly activities.
Plus, under-sevens will have the opportunity to partake in a special storytime session named 'Fox’s Tales' on Thursdays.
From July 25, families visiting the Cathedral can pick up a 'Follow the Fox' trail leaflet to tour the Cathedral independently.
Flint will also be the new face of the Cathedral’s 'Explorer Backpacks', designed for kids aged five to 11.
Each backpack will contain a selection of items to enable interactive exploration of the Cathedral, including binoculars, a magnifying glass, and a compass.
Speaking on behalf of the Cathedral, Clare Williams, the head of schools and family learning, said: “We are delighted to introduce Flint the Fox to everyone this summer and beyond.
"We hope this will add to the feeling that the Cathedral is a place for all ages to explore and enjoy.
“Flint’s story is something which can capture the imagination and encourage greater engagement for our younger visitors.
"Watch this space for much more Flint fun to come."
