A luxury watch shop selling timepieces up to £400,000 is set to open in the city.

Local businessman and NHS pharmacy specialist Can Inat, 25, is opening Watches of Norwich on August 7.

"I've had an obsession with watches since I was very young," explained Can.

"I've always wanted to be involved in watches and this will be my first venture into this form of business.

"I have my own watch collection that I am always building upon."

The shop will be in the Union Building in Rose Lane and work on an appointment-only system.

Can will also be available out-of-hours to help customers source high-end and rare watches from a range of brands, including Rolex and other pre-owned luxury companies, with prices ranging up to £500,000.

"It will be very personal and every watch sale will be a special experience for the buyer - whether they are just browsing or spending hundreds of thousands of pounds on a timepiece," he explained.

"Champagne will be served to every customer on arrival and it will be a different experience to anywhere else in Norwich.

"I will offer one-to-one appointments, so if someone wants to have a look at one of the watches at 9pm, I will be there."

Despite the cost-of-living crisis, Can is confident that there is still a growing interest in people looking to purchase luxury timepieces.

"A lot of people have a passion for watches," he explained.

"There is a massive market for it across the UK and worldwide.

"It is just a small accessory but it can make a huge statement."
