The Salvation Army's Grade II listed citadel could undergo multiple changes.

The 19th century site, in St Giles Street, is proposing to reinstate two original offices in the building and lay down original tiling.

The two offices, located on the ground floor and first floor, had previously been divided with partitions but the proposal would see them removed "allowing to make good all existing historic finishes".

New tiles, matching the original multi-coloured square ceramic tiles, would replace a patch of modern brown tiles which were installed "following subsidence and a drainage collapse".

In the statement the Salvation Army said it believes both plans are "uncontentious" and that "there should be no reason to not permit these proposals".

The Salvation Army looks to help local communities with issues such as homelessness, modern slavery and employment readiness.

An internal recommendation date by the case officer has been set for September 23.
