Another car has been smashed after an object was thrown at it as a crime spree continues to riddle a city suburb.

The spate of attacks has been focused in Dereham Road in Costessey with the vandal or vandals still on the loose.

The latest incident happened at 4am on Tuesday when a moving car had its rear and side windows smashed while driving along the 40mph zone.

More than 10 cars have had windows smashed and bodywork dented by thrown objects, likely stones, while driving between Longwater Retail Park and Roundwell Park.

Mum-of-two Billie Rush also feared for her life after a projectile struck her windscreen on Saturday morning, saying it was "so close" to penetrating the glass.

Following this week's incident, a Norfolk Constabulary spokeswoman said: "We know these incidents are concerning for the community, and they are being taken very seriously by the officers investigating, with all lines of enquiry being explored.

"Patrols have been increased in the area between key time frames, typically in the late evenings and early hours of the morning, but we also endeavour to be as visible as possible during the day."

The boy has since been released on bail with condition but police have said there is "no evidence linking this to those incidents in Costessey".

The town library also had its doors smashed last week, with CCTV catching two teens committing the act and forcing entry into the building.

Police are continuing to appeal for information with anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage of the latest incident asked to come forward.
