Virgin Wines has launched a unique wine label range, the 'Young Artists Collection', featuring designs from city art students.

This range was created in collaboration with third year BA (Hons) Illustration students from Norwich University of the Arts (NUA).

This project allowed those involved the chance to display their artistic skills as well as gaining experience in the wine industry.

Each student participated in the design process presenting their innovative creations, including to the CEO of Virgin Wines.

The task was to create a wine label with a name that held personal significance to the individual.

Out of the 35 applications, only five were selected to become labels.

Every label holds a unique narrative, highlighting moments of creativity and personal expression.

The first bottle to be revealed is 'Dead Beat Feet', showcasing a poignant illustration by NUA student Alexander Lock.

The illustration on Dead Beat Feet, according to its creator Alexander Lock, is: “A homage to that feeling of being on your feet all day and the relief of getting home, kicking off your work shoes, and finally relaxing.”

This vivid label adorns the ICP Cotes De Gascogne Trinity Blanc 2023 which duly fits the relaxed theme of the artwork.

Creative director at Virgin Wines, Graham Tracy, shared his delight for the project: “Collaborating with NUA on the Young Artists Collection has been an incredible experience.

"The creativity and passion these students bring to their designs is truly inspiring, and we are thrilled to feature their work on our wines."

Gill Sampson, course leader BA (Hons) Illustration, at Norwich University of the Arts also spoke highly of the initiative, praising it as a brilliant opportunity for their students to interact with a real job and gain first-hand experience in the industry.

The full collection will be released throughout the year.
