The major expansion of a GP surgery in a village on the outskirts of Norwich has been given the go-ahead.

Drayton Medical Practice in Manor Farm Close is set to see part of the current building demolished and replaced with a two-storey extension.

The expansion will allow the surgery to take in extra patients as hundreds of new homes are built in the area.

Broadland District Council has signed off on the plans for the building materials, landscaping and cycle parking.

Efforts have been made to match the new extension of the building to the medical centre as it already exists, with the building materials and colours set to match the style of the building.

An Apollo cycle shelter, with a steel frame and a glass roof, will be erected near the site entrance.

Work was due to begin on the demolition of the existing surgery in July.
