Eaton Park Miniature Railway is set to hold a fundraising day for the Norwich Lord Mayor's Charity.

The event will take place on August 26, at Eaton Park in Norwich.

The trains will run between 11am and 3.30pm, with all fare revenue being donated to the Lord Mayor's chosen charity, the Benjamin Foundation.

The railway started dedicated charity days in 2022 after the disruption caused by the pandemic.

The Lord Mayor will open the event at 11am at Parkside station on the mainline track.

The society spokesman expressed excitement about the event, he said: “This is our sixth day dedicated to the Civic Charity and we again welcome the Lord Mayor to cut the ribbon and inaugurate the proceedings.

"The weather is more amenable now and we hope to be able to offer a mix of steam and other types of traction”.

The owner of one of the locomotives also shared his enthusiasm, he said: “Charity days are special to us.

"We have a long tradition of supporting good causes and I am happy to be taking part in the Civic Charity day again with my loco.”

Besides the Lord Mayor’s Fund, N&DSME, the society that operates the railway, also supports local schools, the East Anglian Air Ambulance and Friends of Eaton Park.

The Benjamin Foundation, the Lord Mayor's chosen charity for this year, will have a publicity information stall outside the miniature railway station.
