A Norfolk actor gains a starring role in a forthcoming Norwich pantomime.
Owen Evans, well-known in Norfolk as part of the Nimmo Twins, is set to dazzle in the Norwich Theatre's Aladdin pantomime.
Mr Evans, with a background in many theatre productions including the Royal Shakespeare Company, will be stepping into the role of the Dame from December 7 to January 5.
He said: “I’ve never done panto and it’s always looked like so much fun.
"Friends have often remarked how they think I would make a good Dame and now’s my chance to give it a go… Gulp.
"It’s a little out of my comfort zone but I am really looking forward to learning new skills with the wonderful cast and production team.
“I love playing to a Norfolk audience and really look forward to giving kids their first theatrical experience and hopefully make them laugh.”
Aside from being a Nimmo Twin, Mr Evans has built up an impressive theatrical repertoire.
The actor studied at the esteemed London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) alongside the Moscow Arts Theatre School.
Wendy Ellis, Norwich Theatre's creative programmes and audiences director said: "Norwich Theatre’s Aladdin is a genie-us Norfolk adventure and so we needed a true Norfolk legend to step into the dame’s shoes.
"Owen is well-known as a Nimmo Twin and we are absolutely overjoyed that he will be bringing his comedic talent, acting prowess and love for Norfolk to our pantomime this Christmas.”

Mr Evans will be joining other stars like Tarik Frimpong and Meesha Turner in the pantomime's principal cast.
Rehearsals are scheduled to start in mid-November and tickets can be booked online or over the phone.
The pantomime, set in Norwich and written by Richard Gauntlett, is set to entertain families over the festive period.
