Neighbours have been left concerned after a large police presence was spotted in Wensum Park.

Locals reported seeing police cars, a forensic van, fire engines and an ambulance parked along St Martins Road at around 6pm on Sunday.

The incident has sparked concern from some neighbours after witnessing emergency services in the area multiple times in the last two weeks.

Graham Scott, who lives opposite the park, said: "I came home about 6pm and there were blues and twos everywhere.

"The whole street was full of emergency vehicles.

"I just thought here we go again.

"It's concerning to see things like this out here so often.

"It's not nice and just a horrible situation whatever's happened."

Liz Ward noticed two search boats being towed outside her home, saying: "You don't expect to see this happening, as often as it has been, the last couple of weeks.

"I spoke to a police officer briefly but they wouldn't say what was going on.

"There have been a couple of instances at the park recently and it's worrying.

"You worry whether you're safe in your own home anymore."

Megan and Martin Delaney have lived near the park for the last four years.

Mrs Delaney said: "I've never felt safe going through there and it's always been known as quite a dicey park."

Mr Delaney added: "It unfortunately seems par for the course here.

"There's been more of a police presence here - more than normal - during the last couple of weeks."

During the last year the park has been at the centre of a number of incidents.

In December last year the body of Gaynor Lord was found around 400 metres downstream from Wensum Park after the 55-year-old disappeared.

Earlier this month a man in his 50s was punched by another man at the park and another was arrested after reportedly touching himself in front of a group of women.
