Two drive-throughs will soon be coming to Norwich.

Costa Coffee is set to open a site in Morse Road, off Cromer Road near the NDR at Hellesdon.

The cafe chain will be joined by American fast-food giant Wendy's, which serves a range of burgers, sandwiches and milkshakes.

Both eateries were given the green-light by Broadland District Council.

When built, the site will have nearly 70 parking spaces, 10 of which will be for electric vehicles and bike racks, and Wendy's will have a large outdoor seating area at the edge of the car park.

The opening hours of each site are yet to be decided but, as drive-throughs, they have the scope to be open 24/7.

Due to being near Norwich Airport, the buildings will have height restrictions of 10m and landscapers have been advised to not plant any trees that may attract birds to the area.

The drive-throughs will be part of the Broadland Enterprise Park which, once completed, will be able to accommodate buildings of up to 300,000sqft in 39 separate plots.

The Costa Coffee and Wendy's will be joined by a car showroom, a hotel, a 12-bay petrol filling station, offices and, potentially, a park-and-ride facility.

According to the planning application, the plans have been submitted by Marsenne Properties Ltd, Herefordshire-based developers who specialise in drive-throughs and convenience stores.

The new recycling centre is already open on the site by Norfolk County Council.

When the Wendy’s opens it could be the first in Norfolk, with plans also submitted by the brand at the end of 2023 to open a branch on the outskirts of Swaffham.
