Two brothers who recently worked on a James Bond project have directed a short horror film.

Norfolk siblings Josh and Matty Trett switched from secret service to spine-tingling with their 15-minute film, Dial, which has received glowing reviews since its premiere at Cinema City earlier in August.

Josh Trett, who not only co-directed but wrote the horror-drama, expressed his delight at the positive feedback received.

He said: “It ended up being a sold-out event.

"A few people commented on how the film dealt with something a lot of people can relate to and so I think everyone had a good time."

The plot of Dial revolves around Dani, a young woman grappling with grief following her mother's sudden death.

To make matters eerier, she begins receiving perplexing phone calls from her late mother's phone.

Josh added: “It follows Dani, a young woman whose mother suddenly dies in her care.

"As she struggles with the incoming grief, she starts receiving mysterious phone calls from her deceased mother’s phone, leading her on a chilling journey that blurs the lines between the living and the dead."

The film features Oliva Bourne as the troubled Dani, and Denise Stephenson, known for her roles in About a Boy and Truth Seekers, as her mother.

Despite the rather haunting narrative, the production was completed in three days on a budget of £7,000.

"We had to move quickly and operate on a very effective schedule to make the most of our shooting days and be smart with the time we had with the actors,” Josh said.

Having started their film careers in their village of Freethorpe out of sheer boredom, the brothers now hope to see Dial screened at events such as the Norwich Film Festival in November.
