The opening date for the city's newest discount store has been revealed.

Home Bargains was given the green light to take on the former Toys R Us site in Westwick straight last October, after standing empty for five years.

The retailer will be opening in units A and C of Cathedral Retail Park- with the other previously held by Peacocks.

The new store will also employ 100 members of staff and reduce car parking spaces by 10 - of which they are actively recruiting.

This comes just days after plans were lodged for the toy shop's return to the city after going bust six years ago.

The retailer aims to open inside WH Smith in Gentleman's Walk as part of a relaunch drive across the UK.
