The organisers of Run Norwich are celebrating a record-breaking year with 6,923 finishers.

The annual 10km road race, first held in 2015, passes city landmarks including Norwich Castle, The Forum and Norwich Cathedral. 

The 2024 race was officially started by Norwich City head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup.

The event is organised by the football club's charity partner the Community Sports Foundation.

Debutant Jonathan Escalante-Phillips won the men's race with a new course record of 30 minutes and 41 seconds. 

A new course record was also set in the women's race by Holly Archer, another Run Norwich newcomer, who clinched the top spot with a time of 34 minutes and 38 seconds.

The day began with a new one-mile Junior Run, with 500 youngsters accompanied by parents or guardians taking on the course. 

Ian Thornton OBE, CEO of the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation, said: "We are absolutely thrilled with the record turnout and the incredible enthusiasm shown by everyone involved.

“We are deeply grateful to our volunteers, staff, participants and sponsors."
