A new mural inspired by young people has been created in Norwich.

The artwork, located in Suffolk Square, depicts Swedish opera singer Jenny Lind.

She raised funds for the city's first children's hospital, which opened in 1854.

The mural project was a collaborative effort by Reprezent Project and The Garage Trust.

It is the latest in a series of artworks involving young people working with street artists.

Norwich artist Joey La Meche was commissioned to work with the teenagers to develop and install the artwork.

The chairman of Reprezent Project, Ruben Cruz, said: “It has been a privilege to create our first mural in Norwich, which we hope will inspire the next generation of artists."

The community producer of The Garage, Sarah Witcomb, said: “This is our first partnership with Reprezent Project, and we are delighted with the results."

The artist, Joey La Meche, said: “For me, storytelling is one of the most powerful tools we have in society, helping to improve people’s environment and wellbeing.

"Working to put Jenny Lind on the mural map has truly been a great honour."
