A university's student union has opened a new LGBTQ+ bar and club night in Norwich.

Students celebrated its grand opening on UEA's campus last Friday - but they haven't yet decided on a name for the venue.

The club replaces the postgraduate bar within the central hive building.

The project has been in development by the student's union since June.

Students can bring two guests with them to enjoy what is one of Norwich's only gay nightclubs alongside the likes of longstanding The Castle Pub and Loft.

Nathan Wyatt, welfare, community and diversity officer at the UEA student's union, said: "We've been working on the bar since June. Now, we have a fourth space for club nights on campus.

"We plan to run a weekly LGBTQ+ club night on Wednesdays, with fun themes each week.

"Realistically I think opening this venue shows that we still care. Having a safe space on campus shows where we stand ideologically."
