Murder victim in Lefroy Road, Norwich, had been dead for 8 days

The 19-year-old from London died from a single stab wound in a suspected drugs-related killing and was discovered in a ground floor flat in Lefroy Road in the city's Mile Cross area.

Police were called to the property at 10.40pm on Saturday, September 21 after receiving reports a man had been stabbed.

They discovered the body of a man and on Monday night detectives made the shocking revelation about how long he had been there.

The killer or killers are still on the run.

The victim's next of kin have been informed.

A Home Office post-mortem examination was carried out on Monday and it confirmed the teenager's death was consistent with a single stab wound to the chest.

Detectives are working to trace the suspects and examine the full circumstances around the events that led to the death of the man.

House-to-house enquiries are continuing, CCTV footage is being reviewed, forensic opportunities are being explored and the local force is collaborating with the Metropolitan Police.

Detective Inspector Dave McCormack said: “This is a complex investigation, and we are working our way methodically through the evidence.

"The man’s body was in the flat for approximately eight days before police were alerted so we need to follow several lines of enquiry. There are no arrests at this time.

“Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious or has information about the incident.

"Detectives believe this is a drug-related incident and the suspects do not present a wider risk to the community and do not believe this is linked to the murder in Paragon Place earlier this month.

"We appreciate this is a distressing incident and there will be high-visibility police activity over the coming days in the area.”

"I am pleased with how we are progressing so far and we will provide further updates in the days ahead."

A spokesman for Norfolk Police added: "We are still clearly in the early stages of our investigation and building a picture of the incident and what led up to the murder at Lefroy Road.

"There are certain details we would not make public as we would not want to jeopardise the investigation.

"Our priority is to find whoever is responsible for taking a young man’s life, whatever the circumstances, and bring them to justice.”
