Several train services were disrupted after a train crashed into a fallen tree.

The tree fell across the track in the Wymondham area this morning, blocking both lines between Norwich and Wymondham.

A Greater Anglia spokesman confirmed an East Midlands train crashed into it, causing "significant damage" to the carriage.

As a result services between Norwich and Cambridge and Stansted Airport were severely disrupted, with several trains cancelled.

The Network Rail attended to deal with the scene and Greater Anglia confirmed all lines returned to normal just before 3pm.

Elsewhere in the county, Network Rail engineers were sent to investigate a fault with the signalling system between Hoveton and Wroxham and North Walsham.

Services between Norwich and Sheringham were disrupted but all lines have since fully reopened.
