A family-run coffee shop has opened its doors to the public serving a variety of drinks and sweet treats.

The independent business, Wolfy's coffee shop, opened on Monday in Three Mile Lane, New Costessey.

Owner Martin Owen, known by his nickname Wolfy, decided to drastically switch careers - from construction - to open the shop with the help of his wife Jenna Owen.

And with a bevy of hot drinks, sandwiches, jacket potatoes and cakes on offer the shop is said to have enjoyed a busy opening day.

Mrs Owen said: "We've noticed for every coffee shop that opens, another one closes, so we did our homework and tested the market as best we could.

"We had a feeling the shop would be popular and today is reassuring that it is, in fact, the case and hopefully will continue to be.

"We had a soft launch last week with friends and family which was good because it helped us look at the best ways for us to be as efficient as possible.

"But nothing prepares you for the real thing so we're using today as an opportunity to do the things people want."

After Mrs Owen's agency moved from its unit in Three Mile Lane, the couple discussed opening a coffee shop there.

With roughly £25,000 invested to renovate the site Mr Owen says it's taken a lot of "hard work" to get to where he is now.

"I was confident things would be busy but you want to make sure people come back again.

"It's a huge change for me and it's been hard work getting to where we are now, but things have gone really well."

The shop will be open from 7am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday and 7.30am to 1.30pm on Saturdays.
