An 82-year-old grandma has been struggling without washing facilities for more than two months despite constantly calling her housing association to fix the problem.

Miriam Gay’s family has been contacting Orbit Housing Group every other day since her shower became faulty and started leaking over her bathroom floor in mid-August.

"It is still not fixed and it has all been extremely stressful for my nan."

Miriam lives in Boardman Close, a retirement housing complex in Catton Grove.

In September, the Norwich nan suffered a stroke and ended up receiving treatment at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, where she recovered.

However, despite several calls to Orbit, the repair has still not been done, and Miriam has returned to a home without any washing facilities.

Natasha said: "They're treating her disgracefully. It has been a nightmare.

"She is doing really well but the last thing I want is for her to have another stroke.

"I don't know what else we can do."

A spokeswoman for Orbit Housing Group confirmed that Miriam has declined their offer to move to temporary accommodation, an offer the housing association will "keep open" in case she changes her mind.

She added: "The safety and wellbeing of our customers is our priority and we sincerely apologise for the delay in repairing Mrs Gay’s shower.

"We are committed to completing the repair as quickly as possible and can confirm our contractors and community liaison officer have visited Mrs Gay’s home on Friday, October 11 and have arranged for a plumber to return."
