A popular Canaries' player and well-known Norfolk actress have backed an animal sanctuary looking to take in new animals after it was raided by police last month.
Former city midfielder Rob Newman and actress Liza Goddard have issued a plea to the public to help keep Hallswood Animal Sanctuary afloat.
The rescue centre, which has more than 1,000 creatures in its care, was raided by police and the RSPCA in September following concerns about animal welfare.
During the operation a number of animals were taken away for ongoing medical assessment and some were put down on site.
The sanctuary is currently overhauling its centre and is planning to take in more wildlife when it receives written permission from the police and RSPCA.
Rob, who played for the Canaries from 1991 to 1998, and Liz, who has appeared in a number of TV shows including Doctor Who, Bernard's Watch and Bergerac, visited Hallswood Animal Sanctuary in Stratton Strawless.
Rob said: "I'm asking all animal lovers across Norfolk to donate to Hallswood Animal Sanctuary today.
"The organisation and the animals in its care are depending on our support now, more than ever before.
"This will help pay for feed, bedding, veterinary bills, routine medication and fuel for the sanctuary's generator this winter.

"Every donation really will help to make a difference.
"We're looking forward to making regular visits to Hallswood in the future to help and get our hands dirty."

Liza added: "There's a lot of hard work ahead at Hallswood but the organisation has an exciting future and I'm looking forward to being involved in its journey."
The former director of the rescue centre, Lyz Hall, stepped down from her position shortly after the police raid but has not been charged with any wrongdoing.
A statement from the police said: "Investigations are under way into whether any criminal offences have been committed."
