An empty city centre bar could reopen before Christmas as the new owner announces plans.

Revolution Norwich is set for a huge transformation under the ownership of Norwich businessman Marcus Pearcey.

Previously a bar, Mr Pearcey has decided to create a new cafe that is open all day and keep the bar open into the evening.

"I thought long and hard about what I was going to do with the space at Revolution," he said.

"With the pubs and the cafes doing so well, it made sense to try to combine the two.

Mr Pearcey also owns Irish pub The Butcher Bhoy and Black Barn Farm Shop and Cafe in Salhouse.

He recently opened Frank's Baps and Bakery in Old Catton which regularly sees people queuing outside the door for weeks.

Recruitment for the new site, with the name still to be revealed, is set to start in the week beginning October 21 to ensure that the cafe and bar can be opened ahead of the festive season.

"Our business model is focused on investing in local opportunities that allow us to build and develop as a strong Norfolk hospitality group," he said.

"This industry is very tough and has a number of core issues but we believe we can keep investing in this county.

"Securing this site ahead of national chains is a testament to the success of this plan."
