The UEA Sportspark has announced the gym will remain closed "until further notice" after the death of student earlier this week.
Emergency services were called at about 7pm on Wednesday to the gym following reports of a medical emergency involving a man who had been using gym equipment.
The student, named as medical student Mohammed Farraj, was treated by paramedics but was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement on the UEA website a spokesman said: "The Sportspark will reopen on Saturday 19 October. The gym will remain closed until further notice.
"We apologise for any inconvenience. We are helping the authorities with their enquiries."
Mohammed was from the Kurdish community and an active participant in the Army Reserves and sports clubs at the UEA.
