When it comes to a trip away many turn to the European hotspots of Spain, Italy and Greece - but do we overlook the beauty on our doorstep?
The Times has been curating its picks for the top 12 best trips within the UK with Nelson's County being named third.
Writer Mike MacEacheran was impressed by Norwich's independent retailers and the region's vineyards and wineries.
Norwich Castle's refurb also prompted excitement, with the castle keep soon to be fully opened for the first time since the days of William the Conqueror.
Moving out of the city, MacEacheran was also impressed by the wildlife and scenery of the Norfolk Broads.
The fens, marshes and woodlands also offer the perfect background for twitchers and to explore the nation's flattest county.
Norfolk was held in high esteem being named alongside the tourist hotspots of Edinburgh, London and Northumberland.
