Norwich has been named one of the best spots to go caravanning in the UK this autumn.

Researchers from The AA compared different locations based on the number of campervan sites available, the hikes and trails nearby, the average cost of a meal at a restaurant and the availability of fuel.

They then compiled their results into a list in which placed Norwich eighth.

The results showed the city boasts 20 caravan sites, 427 notable things to do, 97 hikes and trails and 53 petrol stations.

York came in first place, with 70 caravan sites, 711 things to do, 85 hikes and trails and 28 petrol stations.

Chris Wood from The AA shared some advice for caravanning at this time of year.

“Winter campervanning in the UK can be an exciting adventure but it requires preparation to ensure safety and comfort, particularly in the colder months," he said.

"Ensure your campervan is well-insulated to stay warm during cold nights and bring thermal sleeping bags, extra blankets, and hot water bottles.

"Pack extra drinking water in case your van's tanks freeze, and bring non-perishable food since campsites or stores may be closed or hard to access in winter."
