A West African community party will be held with live music and craft stalls.
Celebrating West African culture, the event will take place at St Thomas Church Hall, Earlham Road, Norwich, on Saturday, November 9, from 4pm to 8pm.
Organised by musician Sefo Kanuteh, the free event is part of an Arts Council England-funded outreach project.
Attendees can expect a vibrant afternoon with live performances showcasing local talent, a DJ set by Michael Gyapong playing Latin, Salsa, Afrobeat, and African music, and a special showcase by the father-and-son duo Sefo Kanuteh and Julla Kanuteh.
Sefo Kanuteh and the Meriya Band will also perform, bringing the traditional sounds of The Gambia to Norwich.
In addition to the music, the event will feature a variety of craft stalls, offering a glimpse into the work of local artisans.
There will also be performances by children from the community and local schools, adding to the family-friendly atmosphere.
Food and non-alcoholic drinks will be available.
This is described as more than just an event – it’s a chance to experience the vibrant culture of West Africa right in the heart of Norwich, and it’s completely free.
All are welcome, so bring your family and friends along for a fun-filled day.
The event, marking the grand finale of the outreach project, aims to bring the community together through a shared appreciation of West African culture.
The organisers, Gandaia Arts and Tom Lorenzo, with consultancy by Sasolo Arts & Development, hope the party will be a joyful celebration of community spirit.
The event design is by Salma Abdelsalam.
