Woman warns walkers after dachshund attacked in Mousehold

Lauren April was walking her mini dachshund in a field just off Heartsease Lane in Mousehold when a large brown and grey dog came bounding over, off the lead. 

The dog then launched itself at Lauren's pooch, which weighs just 6kg, and would not let go. 

The incident happened in a field just off Heartsease Lane in Mousehold (Image: Google) "My dog was screeching and it took me a while to get him back as he was running away from the other dog," she said.

"After I got him to me I quickly picked him up in my arms, but the dog continued to jump up at us and bite his legs and tummy.

"Two other walkers came and stood between us as a barrier to stop the dog from doing anymore damage.

"The owner of the other dog, a woman in her 60s, took ages to walk over and didn't say anything, let alone apologise.  

The owner of the dog did not apologise, according to Lauren (Image: Facebook) "She fumbled for well over a minute to put the slip lead on her dog before walking away.

"My dog has bite marks but luckily no open wounds, and I have bite marks and scratches on my chin."

The attacking dog had a pink lead and was called Nala, according to Lauren, who saw the owner let it off the lead again once she was further away.

Lauren added: "Please steer clear if you see her and the dog that she has absolutely no control over or intention to train.

"I dread to think what damage the dog could have done to my mini dachshund if it hadn't been for two other dog walkers who came to help."
