A Norwich school is hosting a cheese and wine evening with children's author Nick Butterworth to help fund a new library.

The event, a community initiative led by parents and spearheaded by local GP Anna Storrs, is set to take place on Thursday, November 7 at St Matthew’s Church in Thorpe Hamlet.

Its aim is to raise enough money to establish a library at Lionwood Infant and Nursery School, which currently doesn't have one.

Dr Storrs said: “My children absolutely love reading and being read to.

"I feel so passionate about enabling access to books for children who may not be fortunate to have many at home."

The school hopes to raise £5,000 to transform an unused classroom into a library with reading nooks.

The initiative comes in response to the difficulties schools face in funding essential resources.

Mr Butterworth said: “I’m very much looking forward to being with everyone at the fundraiser for Lionwood Infant School Library.

"It's going to be great fun to get together for the evening event after I’ve spent the day with the children at both the infant and junior schools.”

The evening will also feature live drawing by Mr Butterworth, opportunities to purchase signed copies of his books, a raffle, and an auction for original artwork created specifically for the event.
