Armed police have been spotted outside Carrow Road near to Norwich City's football ground after reports of a person seen carrying a knife.

One onlooker noticed the police walking along Geoffrey Watling Way at around 10.30am today (November 8) with weapons and a police dog in tow.

Four police vehicles, one of which is used to transport canine units, were parked at the club's entrance.

A spokeswoman for Norfolk Constabulary said: "Officers were called to reports of a person seen carrying a knife in the Wherry Road area of Norwich at 10.07am this morning.

"A thorough search is being carried out and enquiries are ongoing."
