A new director is to swap Canada for Norfolk to take the helm of the Norwich-based Quadram Institute.
The centre for food and health research, based on Norwich Research Park at Colney, has appointed Prof Daniel Figeys as its next director and chief executive officer.
Prof Figeys is the founding director of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Ottawa in Canada.
He will start his new role in April next year, when he succeeds the retired Prof Ian Charles, who was made an OBE in last year's King's birthday honours.
Prof Figeys said: "I am delighted to be taking up this opportunity with the Quadram Institute and to working with all the institute’s partners on the Norwich Research Park.
"This is a very exciting time for the type of bioscience and clinical research undertaken at the Quadram and I'm looking forward to getting started."
Opened in 2018, the Quadram Institute researches how food and microbes interact to promote health and prevent disease.
