Plans to convert a family home into a private children's care home on the city outskirts have been submitted.
The Gateshead Group, an independent social care company, has applied to change the use of the property in Bek Close, Eaton.
It hopes to convert the three-bed, semi-detached, bungalow to cater for two children under the care of staff 24/7.
In a statement outlining its plans on the city council's website, Gateshead said: "The home will provide a home for up to two children between the ages of eight and 17 years of age.

"There will be a maximum of four people in total living in the home, with two children and two members of staff who will be on the premises at all times.
"Each child will have their own care plans and are expected to conform to our behaviour management policy, which outlines the expectations from the staff team, on how to manage their behaviour."
Those wishing to comment on the new application have until December 2, with an internal recommendation date by the case officer of January 3, 2025.
