The owner of a new American-style chicken shop said he feels "blessed" to have had such a busy first week.

The first TopG Wings restaurant launched in the centre of Mildenhall in November 2023 and quickly attracted customers from as far as London and Cambridgeshire.

Demand for a Norwich branch quickly grew and its founders, long-time friends Shaz Begg and Paul Stannard, opened their second set of doors in St Augustine's Gate last Thursday.

"To be honest, we felt a lot of pressure about opening in Norwich," he said.

"We put so much into it - everything in Norwich is more expensive and we've also had to do a lot of travelling from Mildenhall, so we were very aware that we could lose a lot of money.

"But it has all been such a blessing. It took off so quickly and we've been so busy - even on a random Tuesday we were full."

He credits much of the success to the brand's online presence, which is partly aided by the advice of Mr Begg's young teenage son.

At TopG Wings, diners can choose between fresh chicken wings and strips, or chicken burgers breaded with a homemade seasoning.

Loaded fries, loaded nachos, hand-spun milkshakes and New York-style cheesecakes are also on the menu.

According to Mr Begg, spicier chicken wings have been the most popular dish so far in Norwich.

In comparison, his Mildenhall customers tend to opt for the strips.
