Two people pulled from a city river during a dramatic evening rescue had been banned from having contact with each other, it has emerged.
Members of the public rushed in to help try pull a man and woman from water near Barn Road in Norwich, close to Marriott's Way.
Fire crews and water rescue specialists were also called to the stretch of the Wensum following reports at 6pm on Thursday, November 14.
Both were treated at the scene by paramedics but Eli Kirkpatrick, 37, was then arrested by police after it emerged he was banned from contact with the woman.

Appearing at Norwich Magistrates’ Court he admitted breaching bail conditions by them being together on the riverside walk.
Josephine Jones, prosecuting, said the conditions related to a pending trial at Norwich Crown Court in January over allegations of assault and intentional strangulation against the same woman.
Michael Cole, mitigating, said he had been “deeply under the influence of drink and crack” before falling into the river.
Deputy District Judge Jacqui Appleton reimposed bail but warned he faces a lengthy period in prison on remand for any further breach.
