Youngsters from Norfolk were given the opportunity to take to the field at the home of English rugby over the weekend.

As the prize for winning a national competition last year, Wymondham College's under-14s mixed touch rugby team were invited to Twickenham ahead of England's contest with South Africa at the weekend.

The team played an exhibition game in front of 80,000 spectators at the Allianz Stadium with pupils from Hornsey, Yorkshire, as the curtain-raiser ahead of the international match.

This gave the mixed gender team the opportunity to showcase their touch rugby skills in the packed stadium, where the England national team plays its home fixtures.

Following their own game, the pupils were then able to carry the English banner onto the pitch and soak up the atmosphere, joining the likes of Marcus Smith, Maro Itoje and Henry Slade during the national anthems.

A spokesman for the school said: "It was a memorable day for all involved."
