Issues with scaffolding and electrics are hampering a business trying to open a new shop in the Norwich Lanes.

Bosses of popular North Walsham eatery, Urban Bites, are working to move into the former Arca Home site for its second shop.

Co-owner, Robert Scammell, recently confirmed he and his stepson Jordy Walters would be taking over the Swan Lane site.

However Mr Scammell says he's run into some difficulties at the shop, which has around £30,000 invested in it, leading up to the proposed opening next month.

He said: "There's been a couple of issues.

"The scaffolding nearby is holding us up as it's impeding our doorway, so we're struggling to get items in and out.

"The previous tenants also had the electric cut off, or disconnected, but the supplier wants us to pay for the previous bill in order for us to get it back on.

"As soon as these issues are resolved I think we're only a couple of weeks away from opening.

"So while there's no specific date yet we're looking to open mid-December, providing things get sorted soon, which I'm confident they will be."

Arca Home originally opened in July 2023 offering an array of art, decor, glassware and other fittings.

However, just 10 months later the shop closed, with 'to let' signs in the window and stock still inside.
