A tanning and nail salon has opened at a new home.

Utopia Tanning Salon has started a new life at 17 Penfold Drive in Wymondham after expanding to a bigger location.

The salon first opened at Wymondham Train Station in July 2023 but needed more space to cope with its growing popularity.

James and Sherrell Howes own and run the business together and have taken the opportunity to upgrade the facilities and find a more accessible site.

"Our new beds have premium tubes and are filtered - it's not like the taboo of tanning beds from years ago."

In fact, many clients are seeking out the red light therapy and CollaTan lamps available at Utopia due to the number of health benefits.

"The red light therapy works from inside out and helps with aches, pains and muscle issues as well as medical conditions such as arthritis and lupus.

"Customers can also benefit from the vitamins C and D that we lack this time of year."

The new salon also has an upstairs, which the couple hopes to sublet to another business to create a "one-stop shop" for those looking for beauty treatments.

James said: "Sherrell and I are a team and we love working together.

"Our kids helped us get this salon ready. My 13-year-old son, Logan, helped build the structures inside the shop, and our daughter Indie, aged 10, helped decorate with the floral designs and the finishing touches that everyone seems to love.

"We hope it will be theirs one day.

"We have created a lovely haven of paradise and the name 'Utopia' is a real reflection of our new space.

"We are really enjoying seeing people come in and appreciate the state-of-the-art beds."

Utopia is open from Monday to Friday, between 9am and 7pm, from 9am to 2pm on Saturdays, and between 10am and 1pm on Sundays.
