Closing down signs have gone up at DIY stores in Norwich after a major firm collapse into administration.

Homebase branches in Hall Road and Roundtree Way are among the latest in the chain to advertise a major closing down sale.

Customers can snap up stock for up to 50pc off the marked price.

It comes after Homebase bosses called in administrators to help them handle losses of £84.2 million last year.

As part of a rescue deal, the retail group CDS bought 70 of its 130 stores, securing the future of up to 1,600 jobs.

When approached for comment, the company's administrator said it would not be providing additional information.

Damian McGloughlin, CEO of Homebase, previously said: "My priority is and continues to be our team members and I recognise that this news will be unsettling for them.

"The remaining 49 UK stores will continue to trade as normal while the administrators complete discussions with potential buyers."
