A Norwich City star has been fined 1,000 for carrying a police-style baton in his car.
Defender Sebastien Bassong was stopped by police on September 27 near London's King's Cross and officers found the baton in the pocket of the driver's door.
The 26-year-old admitted at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Monday to possessing an offensive weapon.
On top of the 1,000 fine, he was also made to pay a victim surcharge of 100 and costs of 85.
The baton will be destroyed.
A spokeswoman for the football club declined to comment on the case.
