City of Norwich Aviation Museum (CNAM) is to open a brand new exhibition hall to house a collection it will rescue from a west Norfolk museum.
The museum based near Norwich Airport, which is home to an array of aeronautic memorabilia, agreed to rescue the Fenland collection from the West Norfolk Aviation Museum when it closes in 2023.
It will now open the 260sqm expansion in next summer to house about 90pc of the collection, which Norfolk World War Two crash site artifacts.
Planning permission has already been granted for the building, with CNAM chair, Tom Emms saying the museum had to do everything to display the collection.
He said: "We already house rare artefacts associated with aviation in the local area so the committee instantly agreed we had to do our best to house the collection in its entirety.
"We hope this collection will enhance our visitor experience and we are grateful to Fenland for approaching us."
