With the first week of return fixtures upon us, and good weather all over Norfolk, it was a chance for sides to get revenge for earlier defeats in the season, writes Mike Ridout.
However, in Division One it was more of the same as Happisburgh won for the 10th time this season to retain top spot. Sean Goody took 5-45, opener Paul Brown made 75 and his brother Rob scored 129 not out in the final 20 overs as Caister defeated Kirkley & Lowestoft Railway (Jon Bailey 97). Rob Free made 75no as East Harling recorded a rare win over Blundeston, while Steve Ridout made 79 and Satish Chelladurai took 4-40 as Felthorpe won at home against Great Yarmouth (Steve Hak 52).
In Division Two, Eaton and Saxlingham continue to set the pace, Mark English making 60 and Tom Groves taking 4-24 as the latter won at Costessey, while it was bowlers to the fore as Luke Billington took 6-18 and Rob Duke 4-29 in Eaton's victory over Sprowston B. Garboldisham A had a good win, whilst Kalpesh Maheshwari recorded the best ever batting performance for a Drayton player with 170no in their win over Ketteringham Hall. Mike Palmer, who hit 64 runs off 49 balls, helped Bystanders to victory.
Rob Bingham made 57 and took three wickets as Aylsham St Giles returned to winning ways in 3E, whilst Gillingham retained top spot by beating Frettenham. Overstrand kept up the pressure at the top as Steve Munday took 6-20 Dave Jackson scored 67 during their win against Bungay A, for who Carl Cudden and Will Tompson had earlier scored 67 and 51. Top batting award in the division this week went to Jay Back who made 134 for Old Catton A. Good bowling from Steve Richards (4-62) made sure they beat Winterton A.
In Division Four East, Halvergate continue to dominate, and like Happisburgh they are still undefeated. Thanks to a patient 76no from Keith Nicholls, and 39no, plus six wickets, for Paul Kitchen, Yarmouth A had a good win against Martham A.
In Four West, Great Ellingham are still the side to catch following a comfortable win at home to Norwich Bystanders B. Thanks to 76 from Sam Mauser Rocklands A set Ketteringham Hall 223 to win – despite 4-23 for Jason Utting. However, 104 from Ben Gibbins saw Hall home. Ian Doy with 58, and 14-year-old Jason Morse's 49no, helped Sprowston C get past Colney's total which was built around Dave Whitworth's 69.
In Division Five East, Beeston and Southwold continue to set the pace after both duly won again. North Walsham won by one wicket at Hardingham B and Horsford C had a good win at Hethersett and Tas Valley C.
In Five West, Thornham and Reepham & Salle A took full advantage of Beetley's week off, both winning, and dropping Beetley to third place. Swanton Morley A had a good win at Dereham B while Old Buckenham C had a good victory at Mundford A.
