Despite the best efforts of Norwich City only six games were conceded this week – but several matches were shortened to accommodate the lunctime play-off so generally cricket was the winner, writes Mike Ridout.

In the First Division new boys Felthorpe and Blundeston continue to set the pace. Happisburgh also remain unbeaten. Elsewhere, Dan Gooch's 63 and Gary Ingram's 5-28 helped Blundeston overcome Cringleford Lodge.

Meanwhile despite Steve Hak's unbeaten 65 and Trevor Shales' 5-13 Great Yarmouth were unable to overcome Belton.

Eaton remain undefeated, and sent club records tumbling this week, scoring a record 345-4, Michael Barker posting a club best 172 not out in the process. Luke Billington also managed to take his 600th career wicket during their latest Division Two triumph.

Saxlingham are also unbeaten, comprehensively defeating Ketteringham Hall by 156 runs in the same league.

Despite Keith Hunt scoring 74 and James Kay scoring 58 not out, Drayton lost to Great Melton off the penultimate ball of their game.

Overstrand and Felthorpe A are the pace -setters in 3E.

Dave Yarham's 98 not out and Tim Porter's support from the sidelines helped the former overcome Frettenham.

Half centuries for Jeremy Cocks and Brendan Wilson and five wickets for Nash Panday helped Aylsham St Giles overcome Bungay A while and an unbeaten century for Kevin Springall helped Gillingham beat Old Catton A.

Springall's innings laid the foundations for his team's highest home total in two years as 208 runs were accrued for the loss of just three wickets.

Springall's century, which was 100 on the nose, was ultimately recorded in the final over, coming from 149 deliveries, including 14 boundaries, and representing the first home century recorded since the club moved to Ringsfield in 2012.

In 3W teenager Olly Hall, 17, scored his maiden league century, making 103no as North Elmham beat Hingham. Meanwhile Saham Toney A remain the only undefeated side after overcoming Swanton Morley.

Despite a second five-wicket haul for Jimmy Catchpole, Rollesby A were unable to overcome Acle B in 4E.

Martham A built on last weekend's good result as Jake Stronach's 55 and 36 from Chris Shales helped them recover to 156 after a shaky start against Winterton B.

Shales then bolstered his earlier good work, taking six wickets for 28 runs as Winterton were restricted to 89.

The game was notable for the fact that across both sides 10 players under the age of 16 were involved in what surely is a sign of a bright future for both sides.

Meanwhile in 4W Peter Marshall also had a good day with the ball, taking 6-21 for New Buckenham in their five-wicket victory over Ketteringham Hall A.

In Division 5E, Adie Greef's 4-21 and Peter Bradford's 63no helped Beeston remain undefeated.

North Walsham also remain unbeaten courtesy of a walkover this week.

In 5W Beetley have also yet to taste defeat during the early rounds of 2015 thanks to Michael Calvert's 4-19, whilst Mundford A had a good day with Geoff Pears making 97no and Mike Hill taking 6-46 as they won against Swanton Morley A.
