Young Norwich City centre-back Jonathan Tomkinson played 51 minutes of Stevenage's 3-1 FA Cup defeat to Stoke City this afternoon.

Tomkinson replaced fellow defender Max Clark with The Boro down 1-0 at half-time, after Jacob Brown's strike had opened the scoring for the Potters at the Bet365 stadium.

Jamie Reid brought the visitors on level terms briefly in the 70th minute, but Josh Laurent reestablished his side's lead just three minutes later, before Lewis Baker's penalty secured safe passage through to the fifth round with an 80th-minute penalty that Tomkinson gave away.

Former Norwich manager Alex Neil was in charge of Stoke after a mixed start to life in Staffordshire, while Tomkinson was making just his second appearance for Stevenage after joining them on loan earlier in the January transfer window.

He's yet to start a game for Steve Evans' side, who are currently second in League Two.
