If Angus Gunn could have written the perfect script for his first international camp with Scotland - it would have been pretty close to how it transpired in reality.
The Norwich City shot-stopper won the race to be Steve Clarke's number one ahead of Zander Clark and Liam Kelly, kept two clean sheets and was involved in Scotland's first victory over Spain since 1984.
Gunn has also altered perceptions and seized his opportunity on the international stage, transferring his form at Carrow Road into Scotland's European Championship qualifying campaign.
The 27-year-old publicly confirmed his switch of allegiance earlier this month before being named in the Scotland squad.
A 2-0 victory courtesy of Scott McTominay's brace made a special moment for Gunn and his family into an unforgettable one for the nation he represents.
"I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was unbelievable and to come away with another clean sheet and beating Spain - it's been the perfect camp for me," Gunn told Scotland FA after Tuesday's win.
"To start the first game was a boost to me and to get the clean sheets. Coming into this game I was really looking forward to it and believed that we could cause an upset.
"We have done and I think it's safe to say it's been a perfect start. Hopefully there is more to come in the summer."
Gunn's City teammates Grant Hanley and Kenny McLean also featured on a memorable night at Hampden.
Spain hadn't lost a European Championship qualifier since 2014, but Gunn says there was always a believe inside the dressing room that it was possible.
"It means a lot. The manager was speaking about that before the game - he told us about it (the record) and said it's a chance for us to make history and be talked about in the future.
"We felt that through the week building up to the game and felt that we had a really good chance," he said.
"When they came here and changed even more of their players it gave us a boost. It's only the start of this campaign. We have to kick on now and do the same in the summer to put ourselves in an even better position."
