Former Norwich City loanee Brandon Williams will be fit to face his former club this weekend despite a knee injury worsened on Tuesday.

The Manchester United export was replaced midway through Ipswich Town's 2-1 win over Watford on Tuesday, with Kieran McKenna confirming he'd sustained a minor knee injury against Coventry 10 days earlier.

The Town manager revealed that his full-back had recovered in time to feature in the East Anglian derby, however, and could go up against his former team-mates.

"Brandon got knock on his knee in the Coventry game," McKenna said. "So he missed quite a bit of training between that and Watford and he was feeling it in the first half. But he’s recovered OK over the last few days and has trained today.

"Everyone’s recovered. The couple of little knocks we had after Tuesday have recovered well, so it was only Lee Evans (long-term knee injury) who didn’t train today. That puts us in a good position."

Ipswich captain Sam Morsy acknowledge the importance of the fixture going into it, but called on his team-mates to remain calm throughout it.

“It’ll obviously be great for our fans because these are the games that they really love,” he said. “We know that and we know our responsibilities, but when we get out on the pitch, we've got to be ice cold upstairs and play our normal game.

“Our home record speaks for itself. We’ve just got to play our normal game. We know what it means, but as professionals, we have to get ourselves in the right mode.

“It’s like a boxer. If he wants to win so much and he goes out with anxiety, he’s probably going to get knocked out. It’s about being calm. We prepare so well and so diligently for a reason. That’s why your habits have got to be so strong.

“When you’re in the heat of the battle – and it’s going to be a tough game that means a lot to everyone – ultimately, you go back to your habits and what you do on a daily basis."
