Norwich City is one of the clubs reportedly keeping tabs on left-sided defender Moussa Diarra, as he prepares to officially leave Toulouse.

The 23-year-old, who can operate on the left side of central defence or at left-back, is a free agent at the start of next month.

According to French football outlet, Foot Mercato, Diarra is attracting interest at home and abroad, with City's Championship rivals West Brom also linked.

The Canaries confirmed the signing of Panamanian international defender Jose Cordoba last week from Levski Sofia, when the transfer window offcially opened in England.

But with Dimi Giannoulis and Sam McCallum departing at the end of last season, along with centre back Ben Gibson, City will be active this summer to bolster their defensive unit under new head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup.

Malian international Diarra made 22 league appearances in the French top flight last season for Toulouse, who finished 11th in Ligue 1, and appeared eight times in their Europa League campaign.

Foot Mercato report French trio Marseille, Nice and Rennes have contacted Diarra's advisors, while clubs in Germany and Spain are also monitoring the situation.

Diarra confirmed his pending departure from Toulouse after the end of last season.

"After eight years at the club, it is time for me to take a new turn in my football career. I would like to thank the club for trusting me all these years.

"Many memories come to mind: my arrival in 2016 at the training centre, our journey to Gambardella in 2019, our title of Ligue 2 champion, our victory in the French Cup, and of course, the adventure in the Europe. Thank you Toulouse."

Foot Mercato claim no final decision has been reached but Diarra wants his future sorted ahead of linking up with a new club for a full pre-season.
