Norwich City will learn their fresh set of fixtures for the upcoming Championship campaign at 9am this morning.
Whether excited by their reveal or feel the event is somewhat anticlimactic, it is another tangible sign that their new era at Carrow Road is edging closer to beginning.
Johannes Hoff Thorup's men have plenty of pre-season work to complete before the opening day of the season on Saturday, August 10. Their preparations will take them to Belgium and Austria via Stevenage, Northampton, and Carrow Road games against German sides Magdeburg and St Pauli.
But little will matter until that first ball is kicked in anger upon the curtain-raising, officially, on Dane's tenure at Carrow Road.
Perhaps the release of Ipswich Town's Premier League fixtures has created some clues as to the order that Norwich can expect. If history is followed in terms of the teams altering between home and away, then it seems that Thorup will be handed a Carrow Road start.
That would be the second successive season that Norwich have been handed a home game to begin after a run of just one in the seven years prior to victory over Hull last year.
With Ipswich also away on Boxing Day and on the final day of the EFL campaign, it feels likely that Norwich will be given the reverse on these particular dates - some of the first supporters' eyes are drawn to upon release.
Of course, given the fluidity of the football calendar in 2024, with more exposure owing to broadcast opportunities, these previous certainties can never be assumed.
Joining the Championship mix after relegation from the Premier League are Burnley, currently without a boss after Vincent Kompany left to join Bayern Munich, Sheffield United, managed by familiar foe Chris Wilder, and Luton Town - who represent City's closest away trip this season.
Portsmouth were the champions of League One, with Norwich set for a Fratton Park visit for the first time since Paul Lambert's double promotion winners secured their spot in the Premier League.
The history books have to be flicked back even further for the last time Norwich met Oxford United in a league meeting this century. It will be the first competitive visit to the Kassam Stadium.
Norfolk boy and boyhood Norwich fan Paul Warne will return to Carrow Road with his Derby County side. Whilst Regis Le Bris at Sunderland and Tim Walter at Hull will be new faces alongside Thorup in the second tier. Wayne Rooney has returned to management at Plymouth Argyle.
The 46 rounds of games in the Championship will be played across 33 weekends, nine midweek programmes and four bank holidays. A new £935m five-year deal between the EFL and Sky Sports means that 1,059 EFL matches are set to be broadcast - a four times increase on last season.
We will bring you all the key dates, analysis and reaction to City's fixtures upon their release at 9am on Wednesday.
