Norwich City are interested in signing Palmeiras' left-back Vanderlan this summer, according to reports in Brazil.

The 21-year-old is reportedly in their sights with Brazilian outlet UOL claiming that contact has been made to establish conditions for a potential deal.

It adds that the Palmeiras board would consider offers for Vanderlan this summer and would be willing to sell the young full back should an acceptable proposal be made. The defender has previously been linked with a move to Chelsea.

The defender is contracted to Palmerias until December 2027 and has made 64 appearances for the club since head coach Abel Ferreira promoted him from the academy side. He has largely deputised for first-choice option Joaquin Piquerez so far this season.

Norwich are in the market for at least one left-back this summer, having released duo Dimi Giannoulis and Sam McCallum upon the expiration of their contracts last month. The latter appears close to joining City's Championship rivals Sheffield United.

Currently, City only have young defender Guilherme Montoia in their squad as a left back option, but both Jacob Sorensen and Kenny McLean have filled in there previously.

Norwich are believed to hold an interest in out-of-contract Nordsjaelland full back Martin Frese, but the Dane is understood to have a host of European options, including from Italy.

City will be hoping that Frese's pre-existing relationship with new boss Johannes Hoff Thorup will work in their favour. The club are expected to explore the free agent market and loans as they seek to make alterations to their squad this summer.

Vanderlan is the latest player from South America to be linked with a move to Carrow Road, with Norwich employing two full-time scouts in the region after stepping up their process in that continent post-Brexit.

City previously signed Marcelino Nunez, Gabriel Sara and Pedro Lima, Vanderlan's team mate at Palmeiras, subsequently with Ben Knapper keen to keep that channel open in the future.

Jose Cordoba is Norwich's only signing of the summer so far with the Panama international joining from Levski Sofia earlier this month.
