Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor are losing patience with Norwich City’s stance on Marcelino Nunez.

Chilean sports media outlet, En Cancha, claim on Wednesday afternoon Trabzon have failed with two formal offers, which reportedly included an improved €4.5m proposal for the 24-year-old.

City were swift to rebuff initial advances in exploratory discussions prior to Nunez’s involvement at the Copa America.

Chile failed to get out of the group phase, and Nunez is set to return to England after a family break to link up with Johannes Hoff Thorup’s squad for the Championship kick-off.

Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan confirmed last month they had opened talks with Norwich City but were some way apart on the respective valuations of the playmaker.

En Cancha state Nunez is open to a move to the Europa League hopefuls but Trabzon, who finished third in the Turkish top flight last season, are stepping up their interest in alternative options.

Fortuna Dusseldorf’s  Ao Tanaka and Ligue 2 side AC Ajaccio’s Tim Jabol-Folcarelli are also on their watch list.

Nunez’s first club, Universidad Católica, negotiated a 25pc sell-on in the original £3.5m package that brought the Chilean to England in 2022, which would have to be factored into any further negotiations during the close season.
